EURIDICE Intelligent Cargo Forum

Intelligent Cargo Forum is a community connected with EURIDICE project. In short, the goal of EURIDICE is to provide cargo information services for logistic and industrial companies that can be activated at low cost and works with any logistic partner along any transport route. These services are to be cargo-centric; open (not proprietary); based on existing technologies and standards combined with intermediating trusted third parties and will provide end-to-end information train (within a supply chain) and the option to use the architecture gradually, depending on the needs and available resources.

EURIDICE project is starting the Intelligent Cargo Forum to establish the core group of a pan-European Intelligent Cargo movement, composed of individuals and organisations willing to cooperate to perform specific tasks and activities, suitable for supporting the project development and its exploitation. The Forum stakeholders/members are grouped into two different organisation typologies: Business (industry and end users) and Scientific (technology providers, research and development). These two distinct groups are activated by their respective chairpersons, primarily on the specific focus areas, which are chosen and decided on in accordance with the Intelligent Cargo Forum lead team.

The objective of the forum is to help EURIDICE further develop the Intelligent Cargo (IC) concept and prepare EURIDICE better for exploitation and commercialization, from both scientific and business point of view. The forum should be a neutral place in which to discuss Intelligent Cargo development, business opportunities and business development. Plans for the IC Forum continuation and development after the EURIDICE project end will be prepared and proposed for discussion at the next IC Forum Workshop planned for autumn 2009. The goal is to establish the Forum as a permanent community, with adequate organization and sustenance sources, to continue building and spreading the Intelligent Cargo concept, technologies and logistic models.

Objectives:

  • Present and publicize the EURIDICE results, that is, the Intelligent Cargo concept to a wide audience
  • Discuss common interest issues related to ICT and Logistics like architectural models, standardization, business models, implementation approaches and testing
  • Start and maintain the interaction between the players from industry and research interested in development, adoption and use of Intelligent Cargo and related concepts
  • Lead this interest group to promote and further develop the Intelligent Cargo concept with the goal of ensuring its adoption by EU freight transportation and logistics industry

Members are expected to:

  • Take part in EURIDICE Business Forum meetings and conference calls
  • Answer requests for comments and reviews of key EURIDICE results and requests for information about related initiatives the member is involved in

Intelligent Cargo Forum Member Categories

  • Coordinator, in charge of supervising the activities of the Intelligent Cargo Forum, planning the development of the activities and ensuring constant growth and active life of the forum on the chosen topics
  • Chairpersons, presiding over the Business and Scientific groups, chosen among the Forum members, to support the development of specific tasks, phased with the main project achievements
  • Wings, experts recognised at. international level in the Intelligent Cargo concept related fields, not belonging to EURIDICE consortium, willing to contribute to Forum activities by leading and inspiring task forces of members on specific topics, jointly identified with the Coordinator and Chairpersons
  • Diggers, individuals willing to participate in the Intelligent Cargo Forum activities, to be a part of the task forces, to be invited to Intelligent Cargo Forum workshops and EURIDICE dissemination and exploitation initiatives, by sharing documents and knowledge
  • Truckers, organizations willing to actively support the development and further adoption of EURIDICE's Intelligent Cargo results, expressing their commitment by signing a Letter of Intent. The "Truckers" can be involved in the forum on the different levels of commitment spanning from supporting the organisation of Intelligent Cargo Forum related events to the implementation of EURIDICE pilots

EURIDICE Intelligent Cargo Forum

Web-based forum, on the Intelligent Cargo Forum website where the coordinator and chairpersons moderate forum discussions on various topics. All members can propose topics of interest to the coordinator and the chairpersons.

Participation in conference calls organized by Intelligent Cargo Forum coordinator, chairpersons, or EURIDICE partners.

Intelligent Cargo workshops, organized by EURIDICE project and the help of "Trucker" organizations, where the most interesting topics will be discussed and the results would be used to create and update the Intelligent Cargo roadmap.

Participation in the other events where EURIDICE project presents its Intelligent Cargo concept, like conferences, congresses, etc.
